South Africa: Cape Town
Cape Town International Airport (CPT)
BEST WAY DOWNTOWN: Taxi

BASICS
The airport is located 15 miles (24 km) east of the center of Cape Town. The airport's Web site doesn't offer much, but you can find the following informative tidbits:
TAXI
Taxis are available just outside of the arrivals hall. Fare to central Cape Town will be about 150 rand ($16), with a travel time of 20 to 30 minutes.

BUS
Airport Shuttle buses leave the airport every 1/2 hour. The buses go to the central railroad station, the South African Airways City Terminal, and major hotels, such as the Cape Sun. The fare is 15 rand ($4). Travel time to the central station is about 30 minutes. If the bus does not stop at your hotel, inquire about the closest stop, or go to the central station and take a taxi to your final destination. Reports are that the shuttle is not always reliable, although this may change in the future.

RENTAL CAR
Avis, Budget, Hertz, Imperial, and National have offices at the airport, and some have offices in the city.
